Q.U.E.E.N.S., Inc. 

Patricia Alexis founded Q.U.E.E.N.S., (a non profit organization for females ages 12-17), in June 1994. What started as a New Orleans westbank organization has become a citywide program. Because of our firm commitment to excellence, the organization sometimes limits itself to fifteen members per site. Q.U.E.E.N.S. started out as an organization that enabled Mrs. Alexis' daughter and a few of h​er friends to ​meet once a week to enjoy cookies, punch, and conversation. As interest grew the needs and demands for a more viable and lasting organization were envisioned. The young ladies were looking for an opportunity to share their commonality with other girls. They were able to share thoughts, opinions, problems, and solutions with their peers in a safe environment. Meetings were increased from one to two sessions per week at the request of the young ladies. The meetings were moved from the Alexis' home to the public library. Later, from the library to a larger facility that allowed for more freedom and flexible hours. It's not uncommon to find thirty or more participants and volunteers gathering on Tuesday and Thursday nights implementing the Q.U.E.E.N.S. program.
